Ambigrams

Since 1975 I've been exploring the art of writing words so they can be read in more than one way — most commonly right side up and upside down, but sometimes with another kinds of symmetry. I'm not the first to do this, but together John Langdon, who also started creating ambigrams in 1975, we're the first to explore ambigrams as an artform. The word "ambigrams" was coined by my friend, author Douglas Hofstadter, who has also explored ambigrams seriously. Now people all over the world are creating ambigrams, in many different languages.
