MATH DANCE
With Dr. Schaffer
and Mr. Stern

Classroom activities for
teaching mathematics
and performing arts
for grades 4-12

Here is a collection of activities and resources you can use in your classroom to teach both mathematics and dance. Each activity explores a different mathematical idea like symmetry or probability through physical activities that use your whole body.

Most activities have students work together in small groups. A few require props; some require a large clear space. Every activity works with a wide range of ages -- older students will be able to cover more of the material more quickly.

Mathdance grew out of our own creative work as choreographers, performers and teachers.
